Believed to energise the outside of the body and tonify the protective energy known as Wei Chi’i which flows just beneath the skin and protects the body from external ‘pathogenic factors’ such as cold, damp, wind and heat. In Chinese Herbal Medicine its properties are considered sweet and slightly warm, helping to raise vitality, stop debilitating sweating, promote healing and tissue regeneration, as well as being helpful with organ prolapse.
