Used by Native Americans as a tonic, febrifuge, emetic, stomach cramps, cramps in general, pain over the whole body and uterine prolapse. It was eventually put in the Materia Medica of the American Eclectics, British Herbalist and Physiomedical Physicians. Native to Europe, its thought to have originated in the Dutch province Gelderland hence its common name Geulder Rose. It’s the national symbol of the Ukraine. Associated with the birth of the universe, the so called Fire Trinity, the sun, the moon and the star. Rich in Magnesium, Calcium and Potassium its antispasmodic, sedative, astringent and hypotensive actions making it helpful in relieving muscular tension, spasms, hypertension, angina, palpitations, myalgia. As well as asthma, whooping cough, constipation, dysphagia, nervous dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, cholecystalgia, urinary stones, infantile enuresis, migraines, tension headaches, dysmenorrhoea, threatened miscarriage, muscular cramps especially menstrual, opiate withdrawal, muscular spasms and more.
