What is an Ultrasonic Essential Oil Diffuser?

At the heart of an ultrasonic diffuser is a small disk which vibrates incredibly fast. Water and a few drops of essential oil is added to the tank and the vibrations break the suspension into microparticles in the form of a mist. A tiny fan aids in dispersing this mist into the room. These particles are more easily absorbed by the lungs for a greater therapeutic effect on the body and since no heat is involved the active beneficial constituents of the essential oils are not compromised. These units also turn off automatically when the contents of the tank gets too low. This is not a vaporiser (although it does have a slight humidifying effect) but it is an alternative to the tea light oil burners with extra benefits.
