Valerian - Organic

Definitely strong in smell, known as 'phu' tea as long ago as 460BC. Prior to being named Valerian it was known as 'nard' Others believe it's named after 'Valerius' Roman Emperor who reigned 253-259 AD. A recipe in the 1500's contained Valerian, it was called Amantilla. It was said "men who begin to fight and when you wish to stop them, give them the juice of Amantilla and peace will be made immediately".

The Piute Indians used valerian as a flour substitute; German women as a coffee substitute; the British as a soup base. In WWI & II it was used in Europe to relieve stress during air raids. Native Americans used chewed Valerian in the ears to provide relief from earache.
