Cardiovascular System:
It is a tonic for the blood vessels in particular arterioles and venules and is a diaphoretic. In its role as a circulatory tonic Achillea behaves as an amphoteric agent. It will both dilate vessels that are too tightly constricted and bring tone to those that are too flaccid. So some of the conditions you may consider using within this area are:
• Varicose Veins
• Haemorrhoids (internal & external)
• Venous Stasis
• Varicose Ulcers
• Phlebitis
• Hypertension
• Palpitations
• to lower diastolic pressure when used over a period of time
BHP specific use of Achillea is for thrombotic conditions with hypertension including conditions affecting coronary and cerebral circulation.

Mucous membrane tonic used in all catarrhal conditions.

Dosage:
Infusion 2 - 4gm tds (3 x daily)
• Rarely an allergic rash may occur from lying in newly mown grass in which Achillea has been grown. Excessive doses of the fresh herb can cause vertigo & headache (so do not exceed given dosage)
